Brazilian Carnival 2013. In Brazil, for the the 85th time takes place the most spectacular and exciting event of the year — carnival. The first festivals of Rio date back to 1723. Sambadrome in Rio de Janeiro which became a home for samba schools in 1984, presents the most famous and prestigious schools of samba in the country, which spend 1 million dollars per year on beautiful decorations, costumes and platform. This bright colorful parade of samba schools belong to the world’s biggest holidays. In 2012, more than 2 million people visited the streets of Rio de Janeiro to participate in the Cordao do Bola Preta bloco. According to police estimates, more than 5 million people attended a bloco during Rio Carnival 2013 and there was not one reported incident of crime.

One of the holiest days for Thai Buddhists – Full moon festival, has begun. The beautiful festival originates from the first sermon given by Lord Buddha, when 1,250 monk disciples appeared spontaneously to hear him speak. The festival is one of the most important religious and public holidays in Thailand. And the most spectacular event is the candlelit procession where Buddhists and monks carry lighted candles, flowers and an incense stick in a clockwise direction around temples. These items represent the Three Jewels of Buddhism: the Buddha, his teachings and the monk-hood.

For albino hedgehogs, as well as for many albino animals, to survive in the wild is difficult. Because his coat makes it hard for him to camouflage and he is an easy target for enemies. His unusual coloring is down to a rare genetic defect which affects one in 100,000 hedgehogs. Snowball was found orphaned in High Wycombe and brought to the animal hospital in October. He weighed just 300grams and was suffering with lung problems. Luckily, now Snowball is cared for in Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital, Buckinghamshire, England. Since then, the four-month old hedgehog has almost tripled in size and he now weighs 900grams.

If you would like to have a drink with hobbits, you may do it in a Hobbit-bar “the Green Dragon”, which is in Hobbiton, near Matamata, in the North Island of New Zealand. Hobbiton – a town built in 1998 that has been open to the public since 2002 — the new pub is intended to make the visiting experiences all the more Hobbit-like. Art Director Brian Massey and a team of 80 workers assisted him in obtaining this thematic bar. The fact is that New Zealand is “the motherland” of hobbits. It is New Zealand where many scenes from the “Lord of the rings” trilogy were filmed. In anticipation of the release of the film “the Hobbit: an unexpected journey” the bar will be wildly popular with tourists and fans.
