The process of Lenticular clouds formation is very complex, but they have a number of interesting features. For example, lenticular clouds remain in the same place no matter what force the wind blows. They are often formed in the mountains and do not dissipate for hours and sometimes days. Bright colors (called irisation) are sometimes seen along the edge of lenticular clouds, multiple mixed iridescent colors caused by diffracted in clouds sunlight. Pilots tend to avoid flying near lenticular clouds because of the turbulence of the rotor systems that accompany them. Like any rare phenomenon of nature, to take pictures of beautiful lenticular clouds is a godsend for the photographer.
