Wat Rong Khun – White temple in Thailand
A sort of surreal tale, many call Chalermchai Kositpipat, an architect who conceived this ambitious project, a modern Hieronymus Bosch. Meanwhile, he compares himself with the famous architect Antoni Gaudi, who devoted his entire life to the cathedral Sagrada Familia. In fact, White Temple – the personification of purity of the Buddha and nirvana. Construction has been going on for many years, and the architect said that the completion of the project would take about 90 years. Remarkably, the architect and artist Chalermchai refused any sponsorship, so that no one can restrict his imagination and plans – all the money he gets from donations. The temple is located in the province of Chiang Rai (Thailand)

Cat goddess Bastet

Cat goddess Bastet

A protective and nurturing Egyptian feline deity Cat goddess Bastet. She was one of the daughters of Re, the sun god

Cat goddess Bastet
The sculpture, now known as the Gayer-Anderson cat after Major Robert Grenville Gayer-Anderson who donated it to the British Museum. The statue is a representation of the cat-goddess Bastet. The cat wears jewellery and a protective wedjat amulet. In the earliest representations of Bastet, she appeared as a lioness or as a woman with the head of a lioness. Bastet served as a counterpoint to the violent Sekhmet, who also had the head of a lioness and was a goddess of war. Sekhmet was the punishing eye of Re, whereas Bastet was the gentle one. Bastet is usually represented as a cat-headed woman, with a kitten or kittens at her feet and sometimes a basket, perhaps in which to carry them. She holds in one hand a systrum, a kind of musical instrument associated with Hathor, goddess of love, and in the other an aegis, a symbol of Sekhmet.

May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
And to feel the complete spirit of the holiday, I offer something about Saint Patrick, history, good graphics, Irish proverbs and sayings. Meanwhile, I like this one – “Never take advice without a woman’s guidance”.
Known as St. Patrick, or Patrick, Irish saint and folkloric hero has also such names as Patricius, Padraig, Patraic and Cothraige. Interestingly, no contemporary author from the fifth century C.E. mentions this name. Even two important historians of the era, make no reference to a man named Patrick, which has caused some commentators to doubt that he ever existed. However, most writers agree that folkloric and mythological motifs gathered around a historic figure. So, anything written about Patrick must be viewed with great caution in terms of its historicity.

Irish Blessings

Now sweetly lies old Ireland
Emerald green beyond the foam,
Awakening sweet memories,
Calling the heart back home.
May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
Now sweetly lies old Ireland
Emerald green beyond the foam,
Awakening sweet memories,
Calling the heart back home.

Beautiful Golden Temple of India
The Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Sikh gurdwara – golden Temple located in Punjab, India. According to historians, Guru Arjan Dev completed the Adi Granth in 1604, and installed it in the gurdwara. However, during the XVIII century, the Harmandir Sahib became the site of frequent fighting between the Sikhs and Afghan forces on the other side. As a result, people damaged the gurdwara.
Meanwhile, the present day Golden Temple, rebuilt in 1764 looks amazing – decorated with gold plating and marble to the gurdwara. In addition, restorers decorated the interior with fresco work and gemstones.
