Unfortunately, every seven years, half of all dolphins in captivity die from capture shock, pneumonia, intestinal disease, ulcers, chlorine poisoning, and other stress-related illnesses. To the captive dolphin industry, these facts are accepted as routine operating expenses.

Space Telescopes Hunting for Galaxies
In fact, telescopes on the ground and in space have uncovered hundreds of planets beyond our solar system. The Hubble Space Telescope sharp vision has detected the farthest planets found so far. It captured the first visible-light image of a planet around another star. It has proven that some mysterious objects are planets. And it has answered questions about planets that no other telescope currently can.
As astronomers advance their techniques to seek out new planets and new information about these planets, Hubble will continue to work alongside other telescopes to satisfy our curiosity about worlds beyond our solar system.

Beautiful and majestic. Diamond planet discovered by astronomers

Diamond planet discovered by astronomers
If a diamond truly is a girl’s best friend, then astronomers from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, may have just discovered the supreme BFF. In particular, a planet made of solid diamond, according to a report by New Scientist. Any planet of such a small size with the mass of Jupiter, under such intense pressure from its own gravity, would crystallize. If that planet was also composed primarily of carbon (a likely scenario for this planet, since it is probably a stripped-down star), that would make it a diamond planet. The planet is orbiting a pulsar about 4,000 light-years away, and it represents some serious bling. Astronomers estimate that the planet is barely under 60,000 kilometers in diameter and has a mass roughly equal to that of Jupiter.
