Canadian sculptor and blacksmith Cal Lane is a very attractive woman. And so are her pieces of art, which she creates out of industrial objects or everyday tools using blow torch and skilled hand. In 1994 Lane graduated from Victoria College of Art with Diploma in Fine Arts. And in 2001 – Nova Scotia College of Art and Design specializing in Sculpture. Besides, in 2005 State University of New York.
In fact, her works show opposite strong and delicate, masculine and feminine, fancy and functional in subtle harmony. It’s wonderful how natural a lace barrel looks. According to the master, she likes to work as a visual devil’s advocate, using contradiction as a vehicle for finding her way to an empathetic image. In particular, an image of opposition that creates a balance – as well as a clash – by comparing and contrasting ideas and materials.

American artist Meredith Dittmar lives in Portland. Her art is an amazing mix of animals, humans, plants that deconstruct the human experience in a colorful bass relief. Meanwhile, Meredith’s creations express deep levels of union across themes of biology, technology, and consciousness. Born near Boston Mass, she grew up in a world of pet pigs, horses, hay-forts and spy games. She received an education in computer science, and began her career in interactive design. Noteworthy is her compulsive need to create, and a drive to seek that the major elements of her person and work consist of.
Dittmar’s work appeared in the books Dot dot Dash and Mascotte 2, along with numerous magazines and online publications. In conjunction with her artwork she works as an independent character designer and maintains her company Corporatepig. And through it she continues to create thousands of unique handmade characters called “My Guys”.
