Held on September 5, 2011, the Vegetable carving competition in Leipzig became the first ever in Europe.
In particular, this sculpture of an eagle – created using fruit and vegetables, a medium many conventional artists may not have considered.
And in the above photo – beautiful and edible bird created by Russian vegetable carver Vadim Nefedjev. Participants showed their skills in sculpture during yesterday’s round of competition
Noteworthy, the first ever European carving competition took place in Leipzig, eastern Germany. Besides, the competition held during the “Gaeste” trade fair for the restaurant, hotel and catering business, runs until September 6, 2011. Within four hours, competitors have to carve figures in front of the jury’s eyes. And the materials for sculpture – melons, papayas, stem cabbage, cucumbers, radish, carrots and Chinese cabbage.
