In the beginning was the word, so let me start with the word. TWILIGHT literally means “two lights”. It is that special time of day between the night and either sunset or dawn, the borderline between the light and the dark. Twilight is when you are not sure what it is you see. One second, you see Beauty; next second, you see the Beast. Many mysterious creatures are associated with twilight. The most popular and scary among them is, perhaps, the vampire, that half-legendary figure which may be found in fairy-tales and myths since the Middle Ages. It is generally agreed that the first vampire stories originated somewhere in Transylvania (modern Romania), and that the prototype for the odious Count Dracula was a real prince of Wallachia. Be that as it may, vampire became an easily recognizable literary character which seems to be here to stay.
Meanings of black color
First of all, black is the absence of color. In clothing, black is visually slimming. People in black are special objects of psychologists’ researches. They either want to show off with pressure on others, or they trample on their own inner ambitions, which causes depression and stress. Black symbolizes the border, that divides life from death. It is the line where life stops and death comes. So it typifies the idea of destruction.
