The beauty of White lions
In fact, White lions are not albinos. Their white color is caused by a recessive gene known as the chutiya, or color inhibitor gene, distinct from the albinism gene. The similar gene also produces white tigers. They vary from blonde through near-white. It is hard to determine exactly how many white lions there are today, because they are held in captive breeding and hunting operations which don’t keep adequate records. According to The Global White Lion Protection Trust, there are an estimated 300 White Lions world-wide. It is widely believed that white lions could not survive in the wild. And, for this reason a large part of the population of white lions are in zoos. Another large part, however, are bred in camps, for canned hunting trophies.

12 Black puppies born on 12.12. 2012
According to Daily Mail, three-year-old Lucy the Labrador has given unexpected early Christmas presents – TWELVE black puppies. Lucy looks as mystified as anyone, while the 12 black pups suckle up to her at home in Kirkholt, Rochdale. Left alone, a German Shepherd gave birth to twelve black puppies. ‘I couldn’t believe it,’ said Ms Thompson, who was looking after her for a short time. ‘She just came up to me trying to get my attention and then suddenly a pup appeared. Then they just kept coming and coming. And in a freak twist, all twelve were born on the 12th of the 12th 2012. ‘It was such a coincidence”, said Ms Thompson. Fortunately, the owners have managed to keep them all alive and healthy.

The above photo “Contemplator” is the photograph of Russian Internet user with the nickname VallDen. I think his name is Valentin Denisovich, aged 53, and he is from Nizhny Novgorod. According to the author, their family’s favorite pet Beagle (a small English hound) was walking on the balcony… He put his head on the railing and was pathetically observing the street from a height of 4-th floor. The master immediately got dressed and went for a walk with his dog Vintik. The photo was taken on December 14, 2012.

You can’t get too much winter in the winter
If to ask a foreigner what season he associates with Russia then he’ll more likely answer – winter. And that is explainable. Traditionally, it’s the most cold part of the year. Here is the set of beautiful images of winter and winter quotes.
Let’s start with Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass. “I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”

Polar bears paradise

American photographer Keren Su, from Redmond, Washington, was lucky to capture the scene of polar bears’ paradise during his expedition to the Waspusk National Park in Canada. According to him, beauty is hidden in the remote areas, that are difficult to access. He said: “We had been taking our chances for days and found nothing. I was there on a very clear mission to get photos of the polar bear cubs. And I believe that the beauty of nature is always hidden in the remote areas difficult to access. Mothers are very protective of their cubs and taking a picture is totally different from just seeing a bear. ‘When we found them resting, we had to let the bears accept us approaching them. Gradually they would allow us to watch them from a distance”.
