The story of Uggie, the actor, began in the U.S. state of Florida in 2002. From birth, the dog has a distinctive energetic character, because of which its first owners would take it to a dog shelter. But fortunately, the temperamental dog was spotted and taken by a professional Californian dog breeder Omar von Muller. The dog was very smart and very willing to work. Officially retired from show business this year, the world’s most famous dog has appeared with memoir “Uggie, My Story”, which was published in the US, UK and France in October 2012. The book tells the story of Uggie’s rise from abandoned puppy to one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. So the ten-year-old Jack Russell terrier, who starred in The Artist, has taken a path well-trodden by many retired Hollywood bipeds – writing his memoirs.

Seven Lions of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer
As you know, the Hollywood film studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer logo is a lion roaring for the camera. In fact, the first lion used for the newly-formed studio was Slats. And the image of Slats decorated all black-and-white MGM films, between 1924 and 1928. Initially, American publicist Howard Dietz designed the original logo, later used by the Goldwyn Pictures Corporation studio from 1917 to 1924. The first Goldwyn Pictures film to feature Slats the Lion was Polly of the Circus (1917). Meanwhile, Slats did nothing but look around in the logo. Unfortunately, Slats died in 1936, and his skin is currently on display at the McPherson Museum in McPherson, Kansas.

Meet adorable cat Syoma (Simon), who lives in Kronotsky Nature Reserve in the volcanic Kamchatka peninsula, in the extreme east of Russia. The brave cat seriously tries to defend his territory. According to local residents, Syoma does it well. Indeed, Syoma is a cat with a strong character. Once, as a kitten, young Syoma was almost stolen and carried away by some white night bird. Meanwhile, Syoma has made friends with some of the locals, including this fox who regularly appears to play with the cat. But the fox is just teasing the cat, making him play and run. Anyway, they both seem to have fun, and this does not appear to be an all-out territorial battle.

The lemurs and monkeys were running around teasing each other, trying to spook each other out. Meanwhile, ring-tailed and red fronted lemurs enjoyed sticking their heads into pumpkins dangling from climbing ropes to steal the yummy snacks inside. In short, the same as people, funny monkeys have already got into the spirit of Halloween.

in fact, this beautiful marine organism has various names – blue dragon, sea swallow, blue glaucus, blue ocean slug, and even Blue Angel. Glaucus atlanticus is pelagic, and its habitat is warm tropical waters of world’s oceans – the East and South Coast of South Africa, European waters, the east coast of Australia and Mozambique. In nature, the species of beautiful Glaucus atlanticus float upside down on the surface tension of the ocean. However, Blue Angel can be dangerously poisonous, just to protect itself. Besides, Glaucus is a hermaphrodite, containing both male and female reproductive organs. Unlike most nudibranches, which mate with their right sides facing, sea swallows mate with ventral sides facing. And after mating, both animals produce egg strings.

Russian 47-year-old wildlife photographer Sergei Krasnoshchekov is from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, Kamchatka region of the Russian Far East. The main inspirations for the photographer are wildlife, landscape and traveling. And in this series of pictures he captured the moments of bear cubs enjoying fishing lessons in the Kuril Lake. In fact, in autumn the lake traditionally becomes world’s largest salmon spawning pool. That’s why the bear families arrive here. However, alongside with bears, the bravest enthusiasts – photographers come here too. One of these lucky photographers, who managed to capture unique moments of the cubs perfecting their fishing skills has become Sergei Krasnoshchekov. Meanwhile, Kamchatka with its beautiful and untouched nature is an ideal habitat for the bears. Thus, in peace and quietness, away from people’s eyes they feel themselves the real owners of the land, walking the woods and hunting for salmon in the rivers and lakes. By the way, in Russian language each animal is “he” or “she”, not “it”, no matter a fly, a bee, or a bear.
