Fedoskino miniature by Nadezhda Strelkina
born in a village of Fedoskino, not far from Moscow, Nadezhda Strelkina is a talented Russian artist of lacquer miniature. Noteworthy, she comes from a well known generation of Fedoskino miniature artists. In particular, her great-grandfather owned Fedoskino miniature factory “Burbyshev’s Workshop”. The factory was famous for painted cigar boxes, snuffboxes and goblets.
Inspired by old Russian legends, folk stories, and religious beliefs, Nadezhda creates portraits of angelic women. She paints the feminine beauty in a most delicate manner, depicting soft, flawless faces. For painting lacquer miniatures she uses mother-of-pearl, pure-gold or silver leaf to create the effect of a shimmering glow or silvery sparkle. Nadezhda lives in Moscow with her husband and their teenage son. In the hot Moscow summers, she likes to stay in Fedoskino Village where she finds inspiration.
