Police and prisons beauty pageants in Russia

The Enforcement and penal system finally have become a part of everyday life in Russia. They are now cultivating image of “warm and cozy” family home. For example, throughout the regions the Interior Ministry and the Federal Penitentiary hold beauty contests, which represented police women and criminal-minded women as the example of eternal femininity.
Even 10 years ago the guardians and executioners were considered a special class, and opposed themselves to the rest of the Russians. Today, it seems, that status belongs only to the “Order of the Sword” – the FSB, as well as the new super organization – Investigative Committee, and all other security services the government is trying to present as flesh and blood of all people. One of the ways to “humanize” the guardians and executioners – the ubiquitous beauty contest among the servants of these departments.

The trend started in 2010, at the height of President Medvedev. Starting this year, the prosecutor’s office, Ministry of Internal Affairs, FPS, MES as if competed with each other to see who in his department will hold more beauty contests. At first, they were at the level of regional units, but quickly new fashion spread to the grassroots structure of departments – in separate detention facility, colonies, police department and police department. Since 2012 the “humanization” got even to the male part of the law enforcement agencies – Mister.. contests also were held.

The government divided the enforcement and punitive bodies into two groups. The first “humanized”, is trying to present itself as a part of the autochthonous Russia, they hold the reform (Medvedev’s reform of the Interior Ministry and the Federal Penitentiary Service). Miss Police 2013 in the Rostov region. The most beautiful girl in uniform has become a soldier from Krasnosulinskiy police patrol of Defense Ministry Elena Zemba. The other girls were awarded the honorary titles of Miss Smile, Miss Grace, Miss Charm, Miss attractiveness, and Miss Elegance.

Miss MIS in the Kirov region. Girls from the scene showed national costumes, spoke about their native land, showed creative numbers, defiled in the image of Woman-goddess.

Miss MIS in Dagestan. The program included a story about the historical homeland, creative numbers (songs, dances, poems), an exhibition of paintings produced by the contestants.

Miss MIS in the Volgograd region. The final moment of the creative part of Miss MIS was the presentation of the images of the Goddess. The contest was called Woman-Goddess. Here, participants showed their talents and skills from completely different scrap materials to produce chic outfits inherent in some Greek Goddess.

Miss MIS in the Murmansk region. According to the contest girls were to be presented to the audience in the costume of the goddess. Which one, chose the contestants themselves, but with one caveat – outfit had to be made from non-traditional materials. On the stage was the goddess of fortune and fertility Makos – The Great Mother. The regaled exacting jury tested freshly baked bread. Behind her, holding a live butterfly, stood goddess of flowers Flora. Solemn and majestic, accompanied by two bodyguards appeared from behind the scenes Egyptian goddess Maat.
