First museum of history of chocolate in Moscow
Opened in March 2009, Russia’s first museum of history of chocolate and cocoa has the name “Mishka” (teddy bear). The exhibition presents various historical documents, commercial and package patterns, numerous prizes and awards. In addition, ethnographic collections, exported from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras by special expeditions. In the museum visitors will get acquainted with technological and production processes in chocolate and candy workshops. Traditionally, the excursion finishes with tea drinking and chocolate sweets. Besides, accompanied with the “Chocolate Symphony”, a collection of classic music dedicated to famous brands “TEDDY BEAR”, products of confectionery factory “Rot Front”, “Babaev,” and “Red October”.

The first thing you get to the Mayan pyramids. It is these people we have to thank for such an awesome treat. 1000 years BC, the Maya began to grow cocoa trees. In the museum there is a statue of the god of cocoa, to which the natives prayed during the preparation of this hot chocolate – with honey and spices. “God” is like a little man with cocoa beans, growing out of his head.
You pass by the Mayan pyramids and get to the ship on which the cocoa beans were taken to Europe. On the ship, you are “floating” to the main hall of the museum. It shows an entire history of chocolate in Russia. There is a laboratory in which chocolate recipes were invented. In a small cafe collection of boxes of chocolates and biscuits of different centuries. And you will see sweets, which were sold at Soviet times.
