Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1969, American artist Michael Ferris Jr. currently lives and works in Bronx, New York. Ferris received his B.F.A from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1991 and his M.F.A from Indiana University Bloomington in 1996. Sculptor Michael Ferris Jr. has shown his work at numerous exhibitions and received many grants and awards. “My sculpture and drawings are inspired by people I know. Inlaid gaming tables from the Middle East as well as the influence of my Lebanese/ Maronite heritage have played a particularly important role in the formation of my work. Each drawing has a different purpose and is connected to a specific stage of the sculpture’s construction”.
