Mosaic collection Dolce Gabbana
They say the devil is in the details. However, in the artful Fall / Winter 2014 collection the details depict the saints. Indeed, religious theme in Dolce & Gabbana collection was in the used images, color and jewelry. In my opinion, it was a real piece of art.
Iconography – not only age-old covenant handmade collection. Also, it is lace, crystals imposed by hand and filigree – icons themselves. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana worked on this collection inspired by the mosaic of Monreale. In particular, Monreale Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1172 – 1185 by order of the Norman King William II the Good. The top half of the walls from the late 1100 to mid-1200’s created with a number of golden mosaics. Two of them depicted Wilhelm II, crowned by Christ, and Wilhelm II, presenting Cathedral as a gift to Our Lady.
