Realistic 3D animal sculptures by Kendra Haste
British artist Kendra Haste was born in 1971, in the South of England. She creates amazing realistic animal sculptures from galvanized wire. At the moment she is a leading contemporary animal sculptor working with her trademark material galvanized wire. Life-size lions, baboons, a polar bear and an elephant help tell the story of the exotic animals that were kept at the Tower from the 1100s. According to the artist, what interests her most about studying animals is identifying the spirit and character of the individual creatures. And she tries to create a sense of the living, breathing subject in a static 3-D form. In 2012 Kendra became a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists, USA. The Tower of London project was nominated for the 2012 Marsh Award.
Kendra Haste hopes to contribute to the year long 2013 traveling museum show organized by the Society. The itinerary includes the Bennington Centre for the Arts, Hiram Blauvelt Museum, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and the Booth Museum of Art.
