Seashell mosaics by Marina Alexandrova
Russian professional artist of applied art Marina Alexandrova finds uniqueness in simplicity and beauty of ordinary seashells. Creating colorful and detailed landscapes, still lifes, and fantasy artworks she uses only natural color clams and mussels combining them in color and shape. All her art works are elegant, original, and exclusive, due to the fact that there are no identical shells in the nature. In fact, this direction of art is called Conchology.
Working on seashell mosaic, Marina also uses the diversity of shellfish. Noteworthy, for many of them she has to go to distant lands. But such traveling is not in vain: in the warmest seas she finds shellfish of the most vivid colors and whimsical shapes and textures. According to Alexandrova, she started working with seashells approximately 10 years ago. Now Moscow based artist Marina Alexandrova is a member of Russian Union of Artists, and author of the book “Seashells and Coastal Decor”.
Works by Marina Alexandrova, made of shells, are durable and require no special care. Not affected by heat, cold, and humidity, such qualities make them suitable for the design of swimming pools and bathrooms.
