Russian-Ukrainian artist Evgeni Gordiets is a Soviet-trained contemporary surrealist phenomenon. Gordiets’ award-winning beautiful art works have gained widespread recognition and are in museums and private collections worldwide. “Today, for me, life and painting are one. I have no desire to follow fashion; it has no value to me. In my art, the sea, the sky, woman and child are subjects of importance, eternity”. Filled with a profound sense of calm and peace, surreal paintings by Evgeni Gordiets convey a longing for eternity and a place of stillness away from our throwaway culture. He creates a serene dream-like atmosphere where quietly magical things happen. According to the artist, in nature, he finds a never-ending source of inspiration.
Born in a small Ukrainian town of Makeevka, Donbass, Evgeni Gordiets later moved to Brooklyn, New York. Meanwhile, last years the artist has been living at Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania, with his Russian wife Natalia.
Gordiets began began studying painting at the age of 5, at the National School of Arts. He received a Master of Fine Arts at the State University of Arts and a Ph.D. in Fine Arts at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Kiev. The artist’s works are widely accepted and are in museums and private collections around the world (United States, Russia, France, Germany, Finland, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Canada, Japan, etc.)
