3D String sculptures by Hong Sung Chul
South Korean artist Hong Sung Chul creates unique three-dimensional string sculptures where images of people appear printed across hundreds of elastic strings. Creating this series of sculptures entitled “String Mirrors”, the artist in particular, used various media and modern technology.
According to Hong Sung Chul, he expects the interaction and performance from his viewers. Thus, Hong initiates a dialogue with and between viewers, instilling the sense of community praised in Korean culture. These strings staggered in his works – interlace to reveal a final representation – one of support or loneliness.
