Animalist artist Viktoria Markelova

Beautiful Russian animalist artist Viktoria Markelova is passionate about painting horses and other animals. It all started long ago and surprisingly romantic. As a young girl, Viktoria Markelova once saw a horse and fell in love with this beautiful creature. Parents bought for her toy horses and pictures of horses, and Viktoria increasingly dreamed of these animals. Coming to visit her grandfather, an artist, Viktoria always asked him to draw a horse. She herself was gradually beginning to paint. Her first independent drawings of horses appeared after Viktoria was given a book “How to Draw a Horse” and she worked hard to repeat each picture until it was obtained. Seeing the success of the girl, the parents decided to help her. In 1994, Viktoria has successfully passed the entrance exams to the children’s art school in Prechistenka, Moscow. In art school, she spent four years and a topic for her thesis was, of course, the horses.

Viktoria Markelova was born in 1982 in Moscow. After lessons in secondary school, Viktoria ran to the stable, to once again enjoy and interact with these magnificent animals. Love to horses grew into a logical desire to go horse riding. Step by step Viktoria became a professional in the field of horses, as she not only painted them, but also studied their character, temperament, habits. Along the way, there were the first paintings, made to order.

In 1998, Viktoria Markelova was admitted to the Institute of Contemporary Art at the Faculty of Design. Of the many styles of art, the basic material for the realization of paintings and pastel paintings was – one of the most challenging artistic techniques of classical and modern painting. Having mastered the basics of design, Viktoria Markelova began practice in the creation of interior design, decorating the space with the introduction of various animal images.

She started participating in exhibitions in 2002, it was a group exhibition, which was held in the Moscow City Duma. By 2002, Victoria painted a series of works “Arabian horses” and presented them in one of the galleries of the United Arab Emirates. All this, however, does not mean that Viktoria paints only horses. She has created lots of portraits of dogs, cats and other animals. Portrait of a pet from Viktoria Markelova has already become a kind of brand. Viktoria’s works are present in private collections of art collectors in Russia, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, United States of America.
