Developed by experts from the German architectural studio LAVA, the Railway Station project has become a real masterpiece of architectural design. Located at the intersection of the main ways in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan railroad, subway and road – futuristic object must become the leading transportation means of the city. In fact, Astana located in the north-central part of Kazakhstan, is the second largest city of the country. Its officially estimated population is more than 708,794 people.
The capital city – Astana sits astride one of the ancient silk roads and is both a critical junction and stop within the European-Asian landmass and its vast rail networks. Meanwhile, according to the specialists, Astana’s International Railway Station will be the green cathedrals of the future, cathedrals of movement, light and space. They are the critical point of arrival to a city, and represent a place of welcome, greeting and even celebration of society, of space. In addition, they reflect technological advancement, and transport/movement at all scales, from international to local.
As one of three critical central places within the City, the Station will be a central focus for movement. Besides, it will be a hub of activities: social, commerce, trade, work, play, meeting and greeting and an identification point for the city.
