In fact, the first photographs of an astronomical object (the Moon) appeared in the 1840s. However, it was not until the late 19th century that advances in technology allowed for detailed stellar photography.
The author of these stunningly beautiful digital photo series is Japanese photographer Masahiro Miyasaka. According to him, astrophotography, first of all, is a long time exposure, since both film and digital cameras can accumulate and sum light photons over these long periods of time. The author titled this series “The Milky Way where a flower blooms”. Thus, she features the unity of nature with the cosmos through single images of flowers on a background of the sky.
