Contemporary Russian artist Kamil Bekshev
Born in 1972, in Kazakhstan, the USSR, Bekshev grew up in the artistic family. His grandfather, a well-known artist in China, escaped during the purges of the Cultural Revolution in 1954. Even as a small child, Kamil began learning to paint and draw, thanks to his grandfather who wanted to cultivate his talent.
Talented by nature, Kamil graduated with honors from a prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia. After graduation, Bekshev has spent several years in Holland studying the old masters. Next, Kamil returned to his native Kazakhstan. To date, he lives with his wife and daughter, and works as a teacher in the Academy of Fine Arts.
