Born in Ireland, talented artist Enda O’Donoghue lives and works in Berlin. Meanwhile, his works – directly influenced by his experience of working with digital technology, computer programming and the Internet. The images in Enda’s paintings all come from the Internet. Searching through popular online social networks and blogs on an ongoing basis, he collects and catalogs photographs that he finds. With each image he paints he is meticulous about tracing the ownership and requesting permission, partly as a way of dealing with the anonymous nature of the Internet and also a reaction to the issues surrounding online privacy and copyright.
According to the artist, the process of painting from these images is slow and methodical. First, dissecting the image into sections on paper, he then works over periods of weeks or months to reconstruct the image section by section painting.
Recently featured at the 2010 Expo in Shanghai and in 2009, his works took part in a solo exhibition in New York at the Irish Arts Center. Besides, the artist is a permanent art exhibitions in Copenhagen, Paris, London, Toronto and throughout Ireland and Germany.
Meanwhile, over the past few years he has been busy with organising and curating a number of group exhibitions in Berlin.
