Beautiful Jewelry by John Paul Miller

Jewelry by John Paul Miller
Born on April 23, 1918 in Huntington, Pennsylvania, American jeweler and teacher John Paul Miller (1918-2013) stood on a level with such masters, as Rene Lalique and Louis Comfort Tiffany. Although Miller wanted to be an artist, however, has become famous in a completely different field of art: making jewelry. Besides, since childhood, Miller had a special interest in insects. That’s why his artful jewelry works include spiders, snails, beetles and other fauna representatives. According to the goldsmith, these creatures are ideal for jewelry. Noteworthy, Miller revived the ancient technique of “granulation” — embellishing a gold surface with infinitesimal spheres of gold. And brought it to the highest degree of refinement in his work. Of course, the technique requires a steady hand, which 94 year-old Miller said he still has.
(P.S. Unfortunately, John Paul Miller died in 2013, several months after I published this post in 2012)
