Lake Kaindy mysterious and beautiful lake in Kazakhstan
Lake Kaindy mysterious and beautiful lake in Kazakhstan
These photographs feature Kaindy Lake, probably the most beautiful spot in Kazakhstan. Located 2,000 meters above sea level, 400 meter-long lake reaches depths 30 meters. What makes this lake truly remarkable are the tall, dried-out trunks of submerged Schrenk’s Spruce trees. Beautiful trees rise above the water’s surface from the bottom of the lake. Meanwhile, in the winter months, Kaindy freezes over. The freezing waters attract ice divers captivated by the sight of tree trunks encased in a sheet of ice and the strange beauty of the underwater world hidden beneath. And during the summer, Kaindy could hardly offer a more contrasting picture, its waters have a warm shade of green and turquoise.
Formed by an earthquake in 1910, in the 1980s, the lake area has decreased after the passage of debris flood. In February 2007, the decree established a national park here, on the territory next to Kaindy lake.
