Born in 1957 in Toronto, Ontario, Canadian award-winning illustrator Barbara Reid was fond of drawing even in her childhood. And she always enjoyed creating from modelling clay, or plasticine. Having graduated from The Ontario College of Art and Design, she was happy to illustrate her first picture book in plasticine. In particular, her plasticine illustrations for the book “The New Baby Calf”, written by Edith Newlin Chase has become a real success. In addition, more than twenty books later, and other awards. Among them – the UNICEF Ezra Jack Keats Award, The Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Award, the Mr. Christie’s Book award, and the Elizabeth Cleaver Award. Her books, translated into ten languages, have been published in Canada, The USA, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Finland, Norway, China, Germany, Brazil, Korea and Thailand.
