Miyuki Sakai embroidered illustrations
Imagine the patience, skill and overall awesomeness of this Japanese artist? For more than twenty years Saka has been creating award-winning illustrations with a sewing machine using only thread. While growing up in Osaka, Japan, Miyuki watched her mother make her family’s clothes and she adopted the sewing machine for her unique style. After she graduated from Art college in Kyoto, she moved to Tokyo and started working as a free-lance illustrator. Recently her work in a Martha Stewart living article called Viva la tarte! won a bronze prize for the editorial design category in ADC 2011 awards. Miyuki lives in San Francisco.
