The world of dolls by Elena Mikhailova
Welcome to the world of dolls created by Russian craftswoman and self-taught artist Elena Mikhailova. According to Elena, she started making dolls in 2007 quite by accident. Somebody had brought her a broken doll puppet. And Mikhailova repaired it. Meanwhile, in the process of repairing she wanted to make a “friend” for the repaired doll. And it was only the beginning of long-lasted passion.
Indeed, now, creating dolls is literally a way of life for Elena. “Sometimes when I mold the character’s face, I know what it will be, once it emerges in my imagination. But sometimes the doll itself makes its own choice what to become”, says Elena. Besides, Elena states, that all her dolls are her inner world and her mood. Of course, each handmade doll is unique. Meanwhile, at the moment Mikhailova has about 300 crafted dolls. However, almost all of them are in the private galleries, and some – at her friends’.
