Three-dimensional illusion by Kurt Wenner
A Master Artist and Master Architect, Kurt Wenner is famous for inventing three-dimensional pastel drawings. Also known as 3D Street Painting, 3D Pavement Art, 3D Chalk Art, or 3D Sidewalk Art, they are, in fact, a form of anamorphic art. Anamorphism is a form of Illusion or Trompe loeil, but has the logical mathematical continuation of Perspective.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on April 17, 1958, Wenner lived in Rome for twenty-five years before returning to the United States. Viewers can enjoy his stunning works in more than thirty countries! Besides, Kurt Wenner is the author of the book “Asphalt Renaissance”, available on the internet and in book stores worldwide.
Meanwhile, in 2011 the Sarasota Chalk Festival featured his work as a lecturer. In addition, he created a street painting at the event with students, as an instructional lesson on perspective. According to the artist, he is going to return to the 2012 Sarasota festival for lectures and street painting.
