The Sarasota Chalk Festival
Held between November 1 – 7, 2011, Chalk Festival attracted 200,000 visitors to see artists from all over the world. In particular, how they transform Burns Square in downtown Sarasota into an outdoor museum gallery in motion. Meanwhile using chalk as their medium and the pavement as their canvas. Noteworthy, during the closing ceremonies, the artists received 24 Medals of Recognition.
According to Denise Kowal, the founder, there is no other event that brings the quality of talent this up close and personal for everyone to enjoy and interact with while it is also free to all.
Stunningly beautiful art – Burns Square, Sarasota Chalk Festival
The 2011 Sarasota Chalk Festival will span several weeks with various events taking place throughout the City of Sarasota. For example, a gallery show with renowned 3D artist Kurt Wenner at the Ringling College of Art and Design, as well as an outreach with the Sarasota Herald Tribune.
