British artist Chris Gilmour was born in Stockport, UK 1973, but currently lives and works in Udine, Italy. In 2006 he was awarded the Premio Cairo, a Prize for young artists. Using only cardboard and glue, Chris creates incredible sculptures , everything you see is 100% cardboard. Material that Gilmour chooses for his sculptures, easy to obtain, and it is cheap. Gilmour works not only in the accuracy of the displayed items in the life-size, they are as real objects which we are all used to touch: the typewriter, a car, a bicycle or a stroller. Sculptor carefully selects objects from his memory and experiences, remembering feelings, gestures, or daily activities. “Perception of the work is similar in different countries, the reaction to the objects is the same … Hopefully this means these objects communicate to different nationalities and cultures.”
