Belarusian artist Igor Arinich of Minsk has found a very original way to use Soviet banknotes. With these old and lacking of value banknotes he creates wonderful pictures. First the artist does a pencil sketch on a fiberboard or plywood, and then pastes the cut fragments of notes in the right places. For each picture the artist uses from 500 to 3000 banknotes of different denominations. In painting “Bathing the red horse” each piece – is one banknote, torn into parts. Overall, the canvas consists of about 3,000 banknotes. The artworks of Igor Arinich are very popular, purchased by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the Russian State Duma deputy Anatoly Aksakov, president of publishing company “Arguments and Facts” Nikolai Zyatkov, and other officials.
