According to the artist, Dirt is Good. Really, Dirt is good, especially when it’s the result of your kids going out into the world to have fun, explore, learn and create. To illustrate this, 3-times World champion sand artist JOOHeng Tan has created a series of 18-ton dirt sculptures showing kids’ futures. Unfortunately for JOOHeng Tan, his detailed designs – some of which require 18 tonnes of sand, only last for hours or days before they are washed away. Professional sand sculptor JOOHeng Tan says ‘I always want to show people what great art is and this is my way to show others through sand sculpture what’s on my mind’. The artist himself, once titled Vincent Sand Gogh, says that he fell in love with sand art in the late 1990s. JOOHeng Tan’s works have been showcased in more than 50 cities of the world.
