Eggshell mosaics by Lyubov Meshakina
Russian mixed media artist Lyubov Meshakina has created a wide collection of beautiful art pieces with a variety of creative work. In particular, pencil drawings, paintings, panels of eggshell mosaics, knitted and embroidered things, and interior accessories. There is hardly any direction of applied art in which the talented young craftswoman Lyubov Meshakina hasn’t tried her hand yet. And the special place in her art have adornments and accessories – necklaces, bracelets, earrings, pendants, buckles, and etc. Lyubov Meshakina is a self-taught artist of applied art, working with leather, polymer clay, egg shells, paper, textile. According to the artist, the inspiration for her colorful art is Mother nature itself.

First of all, any eggshell mosaics starts from a drawing. Second, the artist sterilizes shells, pre-painting them inside and out in different colors. Third, she dries these pieces for a week. Fourth, she carefully brakes them into tiny pieces. Fifth, she stores them in bins and eventually applies one by one, with surgical instruments. Undoubtedly, this is time consuming work which needs much patience. The eggshell-technique is rare and difficult, but the result is a lovely sunny art which can beautify the interior.
