Colorful Fields of rapeseeds in China
Undoubtedly, one of the most beautiful seasons in China is the time of flowering oil-seed rape. In fact, China is a top rapeseed producer in the world. Brassica napus – is the right word for this plant, cultivated mainly for its oil-rich seed. Besides, it is the third largest source of vegetable oil in the world. Meanwhile, the beautiful yellow plant attracts bees and tourists, especially in the middle of March. It is in the city of Huangshan, located in eastern China. Here are the farms in Luoping, southwest China’s Yunnan province. Every year, thousands of photographers come here from all over the world, as well as ordinary fans of the beauty of nature.
The rapeseed plants in full bloom and ready for harvest in the farms in Luoping, southwest China’s Yunnan province on March 15, 2012. The expansion of China’s rapeseed crushing capacity coupled with a lower domestic harvest will lead China to boost imports of the oil seed in 2012.
Rape is an excellent oil plant for Honeybees, and the area of Luoping is the base for beekeeping and honey processing. Accordingly, the beekeepers’ tents are among the rapeseed farms. Every spring they look after the bees and harvest their honey, collected from the rapeseed flowers. Hence most rapeseed farms are also abuzz with bees in the spring and can be a little irritating. These beekeepers move on to other locations within Luoping after the rapeseed season, using wildflowers as feed stock for their bees.
