According to Ptolemy Elrington, things utilitarian, or which give pleasure to the eye have the highest value. Besides, all around us are things of beauty and value, but their attributes – interpreted very subjectively. British artist and sculptor comes across many abandoned things and finds something more in them than their intrinsic worthlessness. Hubcaps, for instance. Ptolemy Elrington uses old BMW and Mercedes hubcaps to make dogs, fishes, birds, dragon and other sculptures from recycled materials. “I’m a real stickler for detail and try to work as closely as possible to photographs or the creatures I have seen at the sea life center”, – says Ptolemy.

According to Elrington, “Aesthetic in purpose but ultimately of very little use. They’re automatically rubbish when on the side of the road, but with a little effort and imagination I transform them into something which gives people a great deal more pleasure”.
