Have you ever spread marmalade on toast in the morning? Meanwhile, Welsh artist Nathan Wyburn found another way for these products. In particular, he paints portraits of celebrities with jam, ketchup, sugar, chocolate on toasted slices of bread. According to 21-year-old artist Wyburn from South Wales, he is studying fine arts at the University. Noteworthy, Nathan Wyburn has created his own unique technique, and this made him popular. In particular, his work was featured on TV shows including Britain’s Got Talent 2011. Nathan has exhibited work all over the UK, his art was featured in Japan, USA, and Australia. Along with traveling to Madrid, Istanbul, Helsinki and Vienna for commissioned work and TV guest appearances.
The artist explains, “We recognize this as a photograph of a ‘painting’ of a photograph. The process of making a ‘painting’ using non-traditional mediums and photographing them has become central to my work. Inspired by popular imagery and celebrity culture, he is making a conceptual equivalence between commercial products (such as Marmite) and the notion of ‘celebrity’.
