November 17th National UnFriend Day
November 17th National UnFriend Day
Happy unfriend day, dear fake friends, stalkers, trolls, and former friends! There are different reasons why people become unfriends, on the net, social sites or in real life. This event is worth to become a date to celebrate and remember, November 17 has become such day. Who could say better than Oscar Wilde – “Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much”.
However, the idea of UFD belongs to Jimmy Kimmel Live, to get rid your page of ‘friends’ on Facebook that really are not your friends. Facebook users play many games at this social networking site that require large masses of friends to reach higher levels of achievement. Games like Mafia Wars and Farmville require you to have an enormous amount of ‘friends’ to win wars or prizes. It isn’t uncommon for heavy gamers to have over 3,000 ‘friends’.
Besides, National Unfriend Day is a good chance to clean up your Facebook page. Get rid of people who comment on topics that do not interest you or are just downright offensive. If you are tired of hearing all about their life or how bored they are, dump them! After all, it is a national holiday.
Kimmel believes your Facebook page should be limited to three or four people at most. That might be hard if you are part of a large family-who would you purge? Aunt Betty, Uncle Jim? That would be the way to have your holidays ruined! However, you should unfriend people you don’t personally know.
“No man ever got very high by pulling other people down. The intelligent merchant does not knock his competitors. The sensible worker does not work those who who work with him. Don’t knock your friends. Don’t knock your enemies. Don’t knock yourself.” ― Alfred Tennyson
