Christmas with vintage actresses
Let us celebrate Christmas with our favorite Hollywood and European cinema vintage beauties. Timeless charm of the film stars of the XX century was due to the arrival of film and television production. Under those circumstances, beautiful actresses became famous immediately and forever. Their familiar faces appeared on our TV screens, day by day, making them a part of our life, and even relatives, such as family members. Indeed, we met Christmas, New Year’s day, any other significant holiday with them, sitting at the festive table and watching TV. As for the first photo in my post, beautiful American actress Ava Gardner was born just on the Christmas eve, December 24, 1922, so, she is the first in my post.

L'Incomparable Diamond Necklace

Guinness Records L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace

Guinness Records L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace. This beautiful necklace named L’Incomparable is incomparable both – literally and metaphorically. L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace was listed in the Guinness book of records as the most expensive necklace in the world. Apart from this huge rock, the necklace is decked with 35 round diamonds, 27 pear-shaped diamonds, nine heart-shaped diamonds, five emerald-cut diamonds, five cushion diamonds, four oval diamonds, three Asscher-cut diamonds and two radiant diamonds. Even more, the incomparable necklace worth 55 million USD was found by a little girl… in a pile of garbage (!). It was 30 years ago, outside her uncle’s house in the town of Mbuji Mayi in the Democratic Republic of Congo. When the girl’s uncle saw the lump, he sold it to local African diamond dealers for an unknown sum. The dealers, in turn, sold it to a group of Lebanese buyers operating from Kinshasa, Kenya. Guinness recorded L’Incomparable as the world’s most valuable necklace in 2013.

Born 13 July 1973 in Chelyabinsk, the Urals, Alexander Shatokhin has had more than twenty years experience of creative works and continuous improvement in jewellery. “I was lucky, attracted by the work itself. A bit of diamonds, gold, enamel, little stones, and breeze of inspiration. When work is ready it is a little bit sad to part with it”. Vegetable and animal motifs in jewelry are always in vogue in uncertain times. The reason is obvious – people want to add into their life a little bit of love, tenderness, and beauty. Beautiful jewelry art by Alexander Shatokhin was awarded prizes at different exhibitions in Russia.

Beautiful girls exist both in high world fashion and in provincial towns. Of course, it is unlikely the world will know the names of provincial beauties, and they will not have to shine on world fashion stages. However, they are no less beautiful than the global models. On the contrary, we often see on the catwalks skinny, with repulsive facial features models, and even frankly ugly. Demand for non-standard, memorable faces has captured fashion. And let the world impose its standards of beauty that are changing pretty fast. Yet, classic beauty lasts forever. It is immutable, intuitively felt, we see it and feel it on a subconscious level, and despite glamor magazines controversial beauty standards. One of these provincial beauties lives in the ancient Russian city of Samara – Anastasia Savina, to whom I dedicate this post.

American actress and model of 1950s Vikki Dougan

American actress and model of 1950s Vikki Dougan

Beautiful American actress and model of 1950s Vikki Dougan, 1952

Beautiful American actress and model of 1950s Vikki Dougan is often considered to be the prototype of Jessica Rabbit – character from the 1988 film ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. But to call her real-life Jessica Rabbit is incorrect. Jessica Rabbit is rather a collective image of sex icons of the time – Marilyn Monroe, Red Hot Riding Hood, Veronica Lake and Dougan. Barbie girl of 1950s Vikki Dougan was nicknamed “The Back” because of her expensive backless dresses, drawing too much attention both from men and women. The Limelighters wrote a song titled “Vikki Dougan”, in which they begged her singing “Vikki, turn your back on me”.

Talented artist Johnny Depp

Talented artist Johnny Depp

Talented artist Johnny Depp

Talented artist Johnny Depp proves the well-known theory – talented people are talented in everything, to be true. My favorite Hollywood actor reveals his secret talent (at least it was a secret for me) in oil painting. Johnny has painted portraits of some famous people, such as Marlon Brando, Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Kerouac, and of course his beloved Vanessa Paradis. In an interview with Douglas Brinkley for Vanity Fair (July 2009), he stated, “What I love to do is paint people’s faces, y’know, their eyes. Because you want to find the emotion, see what’s going on behind their eyes.” An accomplished artist mixes Matisse’s bold palette with Tim Burton’s eerie aesthetic, his oil painting features the beautiful colors of red wine, dark bright hues. By the way, Johnny’s first wife was an artist Lori Anne Allison, they began dating in 1983, and married on Christmas Eve of that year. This marriage ended in 1985. If not his busy acting career who knows where the talented and creative Johnny Depp would be, one thing is clear – he would be famous anyway – an artist, a model, a musician, a winemaker, a restaurateur.

Snowflake photographer Alexey Kljatov.
First of all, almost all snowflakes are unique. Moscow based photographer Alexey Kljatov uses homemade tools for fixing stunning closeups of snowflakes. Of course, the definition ‘homemade tools’ is slightly exaggerated, but still, the idea is created by Alexey. Alexey Kljatov takes pictures of snowflakes right on his balcony. As components of the installation, he uses his camera Canon A650, lens Helios 44M -5 from the old brand of Soviet camera ‘Zenith’, a little scotch, a piece of glass and wooden bar. Snowflakes turn out to look really beautiful, with ideal geometrical shapes. It’s amazing, but there are no two identical snowflakes.

Konigssee the cleanest lake in Germany

Konigssee the cleanest lake in Germany

(In fact, the first picture in this post published in 2013 mistakenly features Armensee, the lake in Switzerland). Konigssee the cleanest lake in Germany

Konigssee the cleanest lake in Germany
Undoubtedly, beautiful natural lake Konigssee is the cleanest lake in Germany. Located in the southeast Berchtesgadener Land district, Bavaria, Konigssee is near the border with Austria. Most of the lake is within the Berchtesgaden National Park. Surrounded by rock walls, high mountains, such as Watzmann massif in the west, the lake creates an unusual clear echo. In particular, as if a trumpeter plays along with the returning sounds, so it sounds like as many as 7 multiple players. Of course, the effect attracts tourists, who come here on boats. Besides, it has become a tradition to play a flugelhorn or trumpet to demonstrate the echo. To save the cleanness of the lake, only electric-motor-powered ships, pedal boats, and rowing have been permitted since 1909.
