Paper art by Daniel Mar
Talented French paper artist Daniel Mar uses shadow boxes and vibrant backgrounds and really makes his papercut pieces outstanding! Born 13 April 1952 in Coulonges-sur-l’Autize, France, Mar became interested in photography at the age of 15. However, it was just a hobby.
At the age of 36 he became a freelance photographer and writer. Meanwhile, to the art of paper cutting Mar came rather late, in his 1050-s. According to the artist, he worked previously with paper as a medium, in order to make frames for his photographic images. “My current artistic approach, where each piece is unique, I now use the white paper as a material able to be cut. Besides, folded or glued to build a fragile and improbable world, poetic and metaphorical”.
