Amazing paper artwork by French digital artist Catherine de Seabra, these beautiful silhouettes are worth watching. In fact, the art of Silhouette paper cut art originates in France. The technique flourished in France during the Rococo, with its passion for the decorative and whimsical patterns. In comparison with portraits in oils or other techniques, the silhouette was quite cheap. Accordingly, quickly moved into a poor part of the then artistic bohemians who could not order expensive portraits. These portraits were important – small, intimate things, recalling the close relatives, buddies, and loved ones. Silhouette paper cut got its name from the French Minister Etienne de Silhouette (1709-1767).
