Scarlet Sails inspiration
In a small seaside village lives a retired sailor Longren, who has left sea to raise his daughter Assol. The widower makes toy boats to sell them. The father barely makes ends meet. Once, his daughter Assol meets an old man who predicts:
– You will be grown, Assol. Yes, you will be grown. And one day, far out to sea, the sun will shine upon a white ship with scarlet sails. The white ship will slice through the waves and move right toward you. The miracle ship will sail silently, without shouts or shots, amidst the sounds of beautiful music. The ship will approach majestically, and a fast skiff, gilded and decorated with flowers will come from it. And you will see a brave and handsome young prince… And will leave forever for a splendid country where the stars will descend from the heavens to greet you.
– When will that be?
– Not so soon, child. You must grow up first. Be patient… It will happen, I promise you. And what will you do then?
– I would love him… that is, if he doesn’t fight.
– No, he won’t fight. Run along, and peace be on your tender head! Go on. And believe me, it will happen!
– Tell me, will the sorcerer’s ship really come for me?
– Since it’s been promised you, it will come. You’ll have your scarlet sails.
Romance in its purest form. Favorite movie of early adolescence, when the trees are tall and houses are big. What girl does not dream of a prince? Only each of her own. Assol dreamed about a prince who would come to her on a ship with scarlet sails and take her to the magical land called Love. One day her dream came true.
This romantic story was written by Alexander Green, embodied on the screen by the other Alexander, no less romantic, Ptushko. Premiere of the film “Scarlet Sails” took place in 1968. Anastasiya Vertinskaya as Assol, Vasily Lanovoi as Arthur Gray, looked very harmoniously together. It seems, here he is, the ideal hero of the tale, Arthur Gray: “Miracles have to be done with your hands!”.
Assol grew up waiting for a miracle, and her soul remained the same romantic, open, good. Everything comes to those who wait, and believe, not wanting to harm others! Romantic dreams of youth gonna magically come true. Of course, this could happen not only in a fairy tale … but in life.
… And far from Assol, in an ancient castle, grew a little Earl Arthur Gray. A servant, a former seaman, built for him a ship wheel in the attic, and memories of the experienced sailor turned inspired Arthur for an exciting journey and battle with the pirates … The years passed. Arthur Gray grew up and became a captain. Once his “Secret” anchored in Lisse. Taking a walk in the woods, Gray saw the sleeping girl – Assol. He fell in love with the girl and began to learn about her from the locals. The locals considered her abnormal, laughed at her dream, and they told the captain Grey about her. A few days later on the horizon appeared “Secret” under the red as dawn sails. Gray, who learned about the “strange fantasies” of the girl, made her dream come true.
“Standart” – serving a copy of the historic Russian frigate “Standart” times of Peter I, from 2005 to 2009, the frigate pleased the residents of the northern capital – St. Petersburg, going on the Neva under crimson sails for the annual congratulations of school graduates.
