Charlie Chaplin Match sculpture by Scottish artist. Sculptures by David Mach
Sculptures by David Mach
Scottish sculptor and artist David Mach creates monumental sculptural installations made of different materials. For example using matches he creates familiar or fictional characters. Using, primarily recycled magazines, and everyday objects, from cars to canoes, he created vast spectacles, that were overwhelming. This series of his artworks is titled “Matchheads”, and among them are different characters from Charlie Chaplin to King Kong. David is a pretty well-known sculptor and artist, not only in Britain but also Europe. He is an art skeptic himself “I am suspicious of myself as an artist. I always ask myself what I am doing. Maybe I am slightly embarrassed to be an artist, so I can say, yeah, I am an artist – but I work really hard. I mean I am the kind of person who’ll go to see some show, and it’s two sticks held together with chewing gum. And they’ll tell you, “Well, he is a genius’ and I’ll think “No, maybe he’s not a genius. And there is a lot of that in the art world.
