Paper installations by Mademoiselle Maurice
French artist Mademoiselle Maurice combines paper art and street art creating unique rainbow origami installations. With her fantastic collections of geometric origami shapes she decorates the streets, bridges and fences of Paris. Meanwhile, the bright colors and prominent placement along city streets make these works highly visible and not easy to ignore. Of course, this attracts not only Parisians but also tourists. According to the artist, she likes to imagine, during the manufacturing of these origami.
Meanwhile, each fold is a reflection of a people or even an individual, as the artist sees it. She likes to make connections between these imaginary, positive individuals. Besides, she sees this art “as a human network through the solidarity of all of these accumulations of paper.”
The main part of street art is graffiti (otherwise spray art), but one cannot assume that street art is graffiti. Street art also includes posters, stencils, various sculptural installations, etc. Every detail, shadow, color, line is important in street art. The artist creates his own stylized logo – a “unique sign” and depicts it on sections of the urban landscape. The most important thing in street art is not to assign territory, but to engage the viewer in a dialogue and show a different story program.
