Beautiful Canadian actress Mia Kirshner (b. January 1975) starred in Brian De Palma’s The Black Dahlia in 2006. She played the role of a young aspiring actress Elizabeth Short (July 29, 1924 – January 15, 1947) whose horrific murder in Los Angeles in 1947 still remains unsolved. The crime was and remains one of the most brutal and mysterious crimes committed in the United States. January 15, 1947 the mutilated body of Elizabeth Short was found in Leymert Park, near Los Angeles. The body had been chipped in two parts around the waist and dismembered (were removed external and internal genitalia, and nipples). Her face had been slashed from the corners of mouth toward ears, creating an effect of “the Glasgow smile”.
Investigation of the murder of the “Black Dahlia” by Los Angeles police with the assistance of the FBI has become the longest and largest in the history of US law enforcement. Because of the complexity of the case investigators initial investigative team took on suspicion of each person, anyway familiar with Elizabeth Short. As the suspects were several hundred people, several thousand were questioned.
