Edouard Martinet’s spectacular sculptures
French artist and sculptor Edouard Martinet was born in Le Mains in 1963. Edouard has a talent for taking everyday objects which he finds in flea-markets and car boot sales and transforming them into spectacular sculptures. For creating these works of art he uses different things. In particular, car, bicycle, moped parts, cooking pans, old radios, musical instruments, toys, jewellery, typewriter keys, and kitchen utensils. Each masterpiece is carefully assembled after having drafted several detailed sketches. It’s unbelievable how the artists manages to create anatomically correct representations of sea life, birds, amphibians, and insects.
“Spiders, insects and wasps are my principal source of inspiration, as well as animals with comical potential such as ostriches, fish and toads,” Martinet said. “I try to make them seem friendly or funny.”
