Born 15 January 1991 in Tver, Darya Klishina is one of the brightest hopes of Russian and European athletics. Initially engaged in volleyball, she later chose individual sport, thanks to her father, a former athlete. At the age of 20, Darya has a truly impressive collection of awards to her credit. In particular, gold at the 2007 World Youth Championship, and 2009 European Athletics Junior Championships. The young Russian athlete’s most recent achievement is winning the long jump title at the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships. Meanwhile, in 2011, the Bulgarian sports Internet resource SPORTAL.BG named Klishina “the sexiest Russian athlete”, and previously the magazine PROSPORT chose Klishina the most beautiful young athlete. Besides, the Russian long-jump sensation has signed contracts with the global fashion, sports and media company, IMG Worldwide. Klishina set a new Russian U20 record of 7.03m at the 52nd Brothers Znamensky Memorial in Zhukovskiy, Russia.
July 17, 2011 at the Youth Continental Championship in Ostrava Darya showed the second result of the season in the world among adults and set the record of European championships among young people – 7.05 m. Later, in 2013, she won gold at the Universiade in Kazan, Russia.
Since 2013, Darya Klishina has lived in the US, where she trains with Loren Segrave.
