Private Prison Art Museum in Uglich, Russia – Museum of Prison Art

Museum of Prison Art
In fact, the unique Prison Art Museum in the old city of Uglich is the only private museum in Russia that features this theme. Of course, there are state museums of this type, for instance, in Vladimir central prison (Vladimir), in Yaroslavl, but they are very different from this private museum.
Here you can see not only the prisoners’ crafts made of wood, metal, bread and plastic, but also beautiful drawings, and paintings. The authors of these paintings – prisoners, who painted them on sheets with oil, ball pens, ink, a stone crumb and metal shavings. Besides, in one of the real prison cells of the Museum you can see the special equipment (door with peephole, bunk beds, desk, bench, etc.). In addition, you may feel yourself a prisoner in the company of two life size wax figures of prisoners in striped uniforms. That would be an unforgettable experience.
