Although she has played in more than forty films, however, became and remains famous for her role in the thriller “Vertigo” (1958) by Hitchcock. Born Marilyn Pauline Novak 13 February 1933 into a family of Czech immigrants, she first appeared in the movie in an episodic role in 1954. Soon, agents of Columbia Pictures noticed the beautiful model, and Novak signed a six-month contract with this studio. However, producers changed her name to Kim, so that there was no confusion with Marilyn Monroe. Novak resisted for a long time, but she could not do anything about it. Also, according to the contract, she had to lose weight and take acting courses in order to replace already retired Rita Hayworth.
In 1955, Kim became the owner of the Golden Globe Award for the role of Mudge Owens in the movie Picnic. In 1958, Kim, along with James Stewart, starred in the classic thriller by Alfred Hitchcock “The Vertigo”.

Kim’s first husband was an English actor Richard Johnson (1965-1966). And in 1976, she married a present husband – veterinarian, Dr. Robert Malloy.
