Great illustrations by Leo Kaplan
Born in 1967 in Lugansk, USSR, Leo Kaplan spent a significant part of his life in Kiev. He studied at the Kiev institute of architecture. According to the artist, an unforgettable impression he got on his acquaintance with the masterpieces of Russian art at the Tretyakov Gallery. It was a really memorable trip with his mother to Moscow. Meanwhile, then the boy’s idols became Repin and Nikolai Ge, then old European masters, the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. Since 1992 he has lived in Stuttgart, Germany, working as an art director of one of the advertising agencies. In addition, all the free time Leo gives to painting and graphics. His series of illustrations to “Around the World in 80 Days” based on the novel by Jules Verne are really great.
